Spark!

I like the word spark. I like how it sounds. On how it physically alters you as you speak it, your eyes go bigger, your chest let out an air, ever so slightly. Try it! And inwardly, something happens when you say the word spark. It's like a light bulb turns on inside your head for just uttering the word. Try it! This word is so beautiful that physiologically and cognitively affects the speaker and the person hearing it. Merriam-Webster have many definitions of it but this is my favorite: a luminous disruptive electrical discharge of very short duration between two conductors separated by a gas (such as air). How fitting.

There are so many thoughts, so many observations, not all incite a spark. How powerful is the human language, that a spoken word is a beginning of something bigger than it intends, all because of that spark. A book keep you restless and inspire to think or do things differently. Start a hobby, break a habit, learn new skill, learn about the world. How an article in the news elicit reaction that permeates all around the world. And how a simple conversation leads to meaningful exchange of ideas.

We all needed that kind of spark in our life. As mundane as life have become with the pandemic asking most of us to stay home. Spark has become elusive. After all, as per its definition, it requires more than one form of matter to ignite a spark. The definition, two conductors, in my mind are our thoughts and our body. Our thoughts are the spark. Other people's thoughts are the spark.

Many human beings have demonstrated that through their thoughts ignite a revolution, inspire a generation, and etch their moments in history. Literature had told us to be careful of our thoughts, for our thoughts become our action, our action becomes our habits, and our habits becomes our character. As strong as our thoughts spark the beginning of a character. These same thoughts can dampen the spark that is ever present around us.

Our thoughts are energy transformed from a spark, it cannot be destroyed, it can only be transformed. Be spark that lights the world.
